President's state of emergency speech

He didn’t put his head in his hands – he put his hand over his face because he was corpsing, i.e couldn’t keep a straight face.

LOL, yes perhaps Fauci was overcome by the irony of which pandemic is worse…the Corona virus…or Trump’s viral marketing of himself.

We are blessed with another White House press briefing at 1230 EDT today (Saturday). These have become my favorite part of the day. Better than anything on Netflix! If you hate Trump there’s much to hate. If you love Trump there’s much to love.

First there’s the opening monologue by the President. It’s pre-written. The speech is to inspire hope / false hope (depending on your political affiliation).

Second is the information and public service announcement segment by subject matter experts. This is dull and should be used as intermission to get the popcorn ready.

Finally the question and answer segment. Here is the day’s true gem! Unscripted answers by our President to provocative questions posed by the press. It’s like a campaign rally occasionally interrupted by the subject matter experts.

Be sure to tune in daily!

Meh. Rather watch Looney Tunes. The acting is better.

I try and stay out of political comment regarding the USA but it is increasingly difficult to do. If any politician in New Zealand had responded to a question from a journalist with “that’s a nasty question” their political career would have been over by lunchtime.
Viewed from a distance, still too close, POTUS seems to become more irrational by the day.

Here is the actual video on Youtube from CSPAN (the US Govt’s own media)

Coronavirus: Trump slams reporter for ‘nasty question’ over pandemic response team

Actually, Deck Ape has a rather candid opinion of the press conferences, the show starts after the pre-programmed announcements. I really do like the team he has assembled, I truly believe they are real pro’s at what they do. Always, a good manager surrounds self with people who collectively know the business better than self. He has done that. What he cannot do is be silent while his most excellent staff is covering his ass. C’mon Donald, they have your back, don’t let them fire you.

Here’s another Gem to further underscore his self sabotaging:

Reporter to Trump: What do you say to Americans who are scared?

C’mon Donald, they have your back, don’t let them fire you.

My guess is he will be carried out in a straight-jacket or on a stretcher.
Or maybe both.

LMAO people, You can vote later on, great picks to choose from.

Should media stop broadcasting the Trump briefing?

He may have a little help from friendly media:

It would certainly benefit the nation to time delay his addled utterances in order that reality might have a voice. Donald the Munted contributes nothing to honest efforts to reduce the damage created by this pandemic. His use of the broadcasts as substitutes for his cult rallies is obscene.

It is probably a stretch to think that Trump even knows who Woodrow Wilson was but he appears to have taken the Wilson administration’s approach to heart:

“Truth and falsehood are arbitrary terms…The force of an idea lies in its inspirational value. It matters very little if it is true or false.”

According to de Blasio New York is the epicenter of the Corona virus in the US. On CNN he accused Trump of willfully stalling to invoke the production act while the situation in his city climbs very rapidly to a dramatic and unprecedented disaster due to a shortage of fundamental medical equipment and supplies. What’s holding Trump back?

Right now Governor Andrew Cuomo is on CNN doing a repeat of de Blasio’s request. They are beginning to sound pretty desperate…

President Trump responded on Twitter:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
@JBPritzker, Governor of Illinois, and a very small group of certain other Governors, together with Fake News [@CNN] & Concast (MSDNC), shouldn’t be blaming the Federal Government for their own shortcomings. We are there to back you up should you fail, and always will be!

The man, as always, is full of empathy. That is a comforting thought…

Donald the munted orange moron has again stated he wants to bail out the cruise industry. I wish he had the brains to see that in this time of economic disaster his desire to use American tax money to support the worst example(s) of FoC shipping is beyond obscene.

Please let your representatives know that this is probably the worst idea that idiot has ever uttered and he has uttered at least one a day for the past 3 years!

One of Trump’s staunch supporters, Mitch McConnell (R Senate Majority Whip) seems to hold his office as a sense of entitlement today. Here in the heart of Appalachia coal is everything. And keeping coal miners employed (or thinking that they are or will be) means channeling votes to Trump. This is something to consider when pondering how Trump even got in office in the first place. Before McConnell Wendel Ford (D Senate Minority Whip) made a speech about those we have in high offices today. Called “The Deer in the Flashlight” speech. (Referring to Deer Hunters blinding Deer with a high powered flashlight…in this case voters…suing fake/false issues) It has taken along time, IE given enough rope they will hang themselves. But all of the dirty deeds are now coming to a point and McConnell is being challenged in the upcoming Kentucky elections and McConnell doesn’t like it and is even protesting anyone’s right to do so.

Dana Milbank recently wrote this editorial that showcases much of this with McConnell and Trump:

Trump, McConnell can’t avoid political fallout

Lt Colonial Ret Amy McGrath a USMC combat vet/fighter pilot is the challenger. Her campaign ad’s are original and well researched.

Those who work on the water may appreciate this ad. (think of the Kentucky Coal Miners as the Deer with the light shined in their eyes)

Ditch Mitch Fund - Gracias

President Trump’s daily opening monologue has gotten very dull. ‘Wonderful job,’ ‘Very, very good,’ ‘Everyone is amazed by how much we do.’ ‘We do more than anyone has ever seen,’ Yawn.

“He’s lived in the beautiful building, the very, very beautiful building, that beautiful building, he’s lived in it very well.”

Now the Q&A is fun. Well, repetitious but I’m an old fashion guy.

“Just so you understand, are you ready?..There are people in your profession who write fake news. You do!”

“We did in eight days more than South Korea did in eight weeks…”

“Big, beautiful wall…”

“The Kennedy Center has suffered greatly. It’s been closed. Nobody can go there… If I want to go there and watch Romeo and Juliet do you know what they’d say? Nobody can go there.”

“We’re the ones that kept China outta here. If I didn’t do it thousands and thousands of people would have died.”

He needs to believe his own mythology.

Oops, after reading this one tends to think that the moment for Game, set & match is closing in. The virus could effect him in an unforeseen unexpected kind of way.

Because he doesn’t tolerate relationships that are characterized by disagreement or absence of obeisance, before long we’ll see key people removed or silenced when they try to counter a Trump-centered narrative. He’ll try to find shiny objects to divert our attention from his failures.

The Atlantic cuts pretty deep – I like that. They tend to give away quite a bit for free also. A lot of articles are out in front of the paywall.
