There are many words we (collectively) know and recognize though not use in our everyday conversation. The etymology of paralipsis is ancient Greek indicating the word has been around a very, very long time. No doubt anyone who has ever taken a speech or debate class is very familiar with it. And while we may not use the actual word, through its definition, all have seen its use.
