President Trump and Melania test positive for covid

And so your morality believes that lies are more important than the truth?

Truer words were never spoken.

I cannot attest nor anyone else on this site on who tells the biggest fibs. Plenty to go around for sure. I am voting for the candidate that represents my best interest, as most voters “Think” will be best for them. I will listen to both sides, and on November 4 will cast my vote. I have switched parties before, and probably do it again before they shovel the dirt over me. A recent election was decided by a coin flip, I didn’t vote in that particular campaign. By voting, my 1 vote that wasn’t cast perhaps could have avoided that debacle. Your 1 vote really does matter. Use it wisely, no matter what party you vote for.

Citation, please?

Good interview of Snyder on this exact point here:

I voted for the one who already knew that Covid was bad, and that it was not recommended to inject bleach into the body like a cleaning.

So you shy away from making your choice since you wait until 04.Nov. to cast your vote??

Bug, my vote will be cast on Nov 4, the walk in voting date… Don’t shy away by any means, have a candidate in mind but you never know with the October surprises. I don’t vote early or by mail for various reasons. What’s going on in the local elections is just as important as the Presidential gig. Perhaps you can understand my reasoning, perhaps not. But I think you do.

More from the Timothy Snyder article, directly to the point:

The way it works is that you first just lie a lot. You fill up the public space with things that aren’t true, as Trump has obviously done. Next you say, “It’s not me who lies; it’s the crooked journalists. They’re the ones who spread the fake news.” Then the third step, if this works, is that everybody shrugs their shoulders and says, “Well, we don’t really know who to trust; therefor, we’ll trust whoever we feel like trusting.” In that situation, you can’t control political action and authoritarianism wins.

This is Jughead’s Stalinist playbook.

My morality permits me to hit back.

Kamala Harris is likely to be our next president. The DNC has been pushing her for 3 years now. Whatever backroom promises and deals one has to make to get the approval of the DNC kingmakers she has clearly made.

One small hitch though, nobody wanted to vote for her. She nearly finished dead last and was out by Christmas. No problem for the DNC, the opinion of the American people isn’t what matters to them. If she can’t get in the front door they’ll slide her in the back.

So the presidential campaign is clearly a dirty business. I’d rather not have a lying, cheating con man. But if that’s what it takes to give the choice back to the American people I’m in with both feet.

Don’t lecture me on morality when the entire candidacy you support is a lie.

If no one is voting for her, how can she become president (or senator)?

Your morality is your own. It is on display with your statement:

I’m not trying to influence your morality. My own moral compass rests on traditional Judeo-Christian-Enlightenment foundations: Democracy relies on truth. Lies are bad. The way to fight lies is to tell the truth. Hence, vote for the candidate that lies the least. You and Trump think differently. So be it.

The DNC tapped her to be the VP candidate, just like the RNC tapped Pence to be their VP. SOP. It’s been done that way at least since 1900. If the people hate her, they’ll vote against her. What am I missing here?

I agree.

Again, the American people vote for her, or not. So how do they not have a choice?

How can a candidacy be a lie? Are Biden/Harris not Biden/Harris?

Trolling or really that Trump stunned?

How can you possibly tell which one lies the most? They all lie.

Compared to Trump? Really? Trump’s not in a league (or world) of his own?

To a politician a promise is a synonym for a lie.

I think MAK is suggesting that Biden won’t survive four years.
Mortality tables argue otherwise. One longevity researcher (Jay Olshansky) figures Biden has a 95.2% chance of surviving four years in office.
Morality tables show that Trump and Pence are already dead.

Anybody catch the hour long interview this morning with Maria Bartolomo?

Really? Did the pandemic end in April?

Do the due-diligence required of anv voter in a democracy and study several sources of news. The sources you like, and the sources you don’t like. The pattern of truth and falsehood becomes apparent PDQ. Turn off all TV/cable news, stop looking at social media, and actually read news accounts from Pulitzer prize winning journalists.

People scream about Defending Liberty. But they seldom grasp that the bedrock of liberty is democracy. You can have all the guns you want, but once you surrender the truth to demagoguery and partisanship you’ve lost your democracy and your liberty.

Ask politicians to compromise more and promise less and you’ve eased the problem.
