I’ve been hearing about the promise and threat of socialism for the disenfranchised for 40 years. Big business has been socialized for the same 40 years plus and is becoming more so. How socialism became a dirty word in the USA is a study in itself. I remember when socialism=communism which was BS then and now. The happiest countries judged by numerous international surveys seem to have quite a bit of what the pundits of the USA call socialism. On the other hand no one today would consider the USA a happy country. But then it is an oligarchy.
The purest form of socialism in the USA is the military. Government subsidized housing, medical care, schools, shopping, education, guaranteed pension, etc. They and their families even live in communal housing.
No problem for me and I think it is due them. Comes with the low pay. However, if someone wants to give a subsidy for housing to the aid working for $8/hour [if they are lucky] in your local school or hospital that it socialism.
