Can anyone tell me what type of medical staff are kept onboard larger vessels? I’ve got a registered nurse license I’d like to keep using while hopefully logging some time on my 100 ton masters.
Thanks for any pointers.

100 ton vessels don’t carry medical staff but being trained and certified as a nurse would qualify you to work as a rig medic but you aren’t going to get seatime. To get seatime, you have to be a member of the certified crew.
You probably qualify for a Medical Services Officer position with MSC. And you’d get unlimited tonnage seatime because you are part of the crew.

How can a person in that position get seatime? Towards a deck license? I don’t think so!
I’m not sure. I forget if the MSO’s were considered deck or not. Doesn’t seem like they would be, but with msc, you just never know.
