Oil purification system

I’m currently trying to design an oil purification system for a new build ship. I need help in knowing what the lube oil temperature should be before going into a steam heater before the purifier .

Thanks

Not to be a know it all. I used to work for him. Consult the Purifier manufacturer and the oil manufacturer’s purification temps recommendations. Then run it at 86 C like the rest of us “Merchant Marine For Dummies” readers do.

Before the heater? Wheres the oil coming from? Alfa recommends around 90c through a purifier for cross head engines and a little higher for trunk engines but really no set temp before the heater. Temp will depend on whether the oil is coming from stores or the engine sump

Too bad steam is gone, I’d like to share a few cold ones with you, tell our stories, but alas, we are too far away.
Cheers anyway ~

Don't feel bad S&G I would like a to have a beer with you. I'm having one right now as I am off for the next 28 days. My brother fly fishes Montana and Idaho with some of his cronies. I am too busy paying for college for my daughters too get out your way, I fly fish too. If I am out your way we could "fill a book" or an outhouse with our BS.

Room for one more? I wanna try some of SnG’s private reserve.

Probably S&G has a bunch of Dugan’s Dew as his private stash. My wife found my stash. Good thing the liquor store is a 1/2 mile from home.DD would be ok for me.

For Oil Purification I used services of “Purified Lubricants” and they are mostly use temperature through oil purification is 90 C. But for going into a steam heater before purifier no any set temperature. because it is depends on weather or atmosphere.
Good Luck.

we run mobile guard 300 and found it runs best if we have it coming out of the heater at about 170 to the purifier, but it is set up in parallel to the main lube oil sump so there is no way to tell the temp before the steam heater

We’re running an alpha here and the oil temp is at 87 degrees celcius. However, when I read the manual for it, it never states what condition of heat it must be in, I bet it depends on what sort of lubeoil you use, must be a diagram somewhere if you look.
