New TAG ships progress

I think AMO crews these? Anyone have info on when they’ll be working and where? Cool looking ship.

Where? All over the world. Some places classified, some not.

Yea, I know most of them are between Korea / Japan and Europe.

Yea. I spent a lot of time in the Persian Gulf on one of those ships. Interesting work, interesting people, shit for pay.

And through AMO yea?

At the time, yea. But they had just come from MMP. It was a while ago.

Yeah I believe AMO has had them since around 2007

It went from Horizon (MEBA & MMP) to 3PSC (AMO) near the end of 2009.

{shudder}

What a shitbag organization.

When @Chief_Seadog posted that I said “wow, there’s a name I haven’t heard in a looooooong time…”

I had a buddy from Schuyler who worked for them on his way to better things — he was a man of few words but they echoed the same sentiment as yours.

In 2013, Maersk bought 3PSC and merged them into their USMMI operation. In 2023, Maersk sold USMMI to Maritime Partners.

lol sounds like me actually. But yea. I can’t really complain, because both my personal life and professional life are much better off having worked there. But boy was it a wild ride.

So those folks successfully did it again huh? Didn’t they do that with Dyn Marine too before they created 3PSC?

I think now the ships are still AMO but managed by OSI (ocean ship holdings).
I think the contract is up soon, maybe October ?, it will be interesting to see who gets it this time around.

Companies bidding on it are probably

  • OSI
  • Patriot
  • Keystone
  • Crowley
  • Tote ? Maybe

Did you work on any of the twin hulled ones the impeccable class tagos? Have heard similarly mixed reviews haha

They’re better now that the contracts are more in line with the rest of the union.

No, I did my time on the Heezen and jumped at the prospects of greener grass. I think the TAGOS paid even less at the time, if that was possible :joy:
