Was wondering if you have to use a special paint for the black behind the lights as our is faded out?
I would think flat as flat black gets would be fine. Anything with ‘marine’ on the can, so you’ll pay 3x what it should cost.
I have a 235 flat black primer but want to use a top coat. I’ll have to find a good flat black top coat I guess thanks for the input.
Chances are the paint that faded was an epoxy. Use a flat enamel
Just the 235 epoxy is enough. The official term for what finish is required is “Matte Black” This means a flat, non reflective, non glare finish. The epoxy dulls down quite nicely and is tough to break or haze. Although it drys initially with a sheen, in a couple days it hazes over.

[B]My favorite is “1-Shot” sign paint. It lasts forever, and takes a beating from sun/weather without fading. I used it behind lights and for #'s and names also
You can order on line.

Thanks again everyone!
