More MMP/AMO BS

Yeah I wasn’t convinced CMA actually going through it. But I was certain they were suppose to reflag 4 total on the INDAMEX run.

These groups need to take a look at the GOM OSV workforce. The influx of a younger generation and academy workforce has changed the anti union sentiment pushed by owners. Most of the crews here with me are fed up with low pay and benefits and hope it happens soon.

People in the Gulf are fed up with it but they don’t do anything about it.

Oil field hands are used to getting fucked and will never actually make changes or demand anything better.

I missed this news, when did the number change?

Hope what happens soon? That they get up off their asses and unionize? That’s on the crews not the unions.

When I was with District 1 a small team was sent down to the oil patch from the New Orleans hall to try to organize. They ended up leaving at the end of some sherriffs and deputies shotguns according to a friend of mine who was there.

True and it would be even more dangerous today.

From what I was told by someone who spoke to leadership, the APL folks backtracked hard on the number. At the time I heard this (July-August) the person said it was cut from 20+ to around 3-5.

I wasn’t surprised. No one who heard that was. I thought the 20+ vessel flag in plan was bullshit from the word go.

I’d be thrilled to be proven wrong, but not counting on it.

Yet MMP will blamed why the number has dropped. I think MEBA leadership already started putting that out but this is hearsay so… atleast those 3-5 will replace the express ships. Still need a couple more as the first LMSR already went ROS I believe.

I suppose nobody who lives in reality would be surprised, it sounded like pandering to the latest whim from the start. Birds of a feather and all that. But, three to five is still a lot better than none. I hope we get at least a couple more than the Phoenix.

Whatever it takes to distract from the horrible raises they hurriedly agreed to with MLL. Their own members on my most recent ship were livid with them.

Supposedly the members vetoed the contract — still, it shows they were willing to screw their own members over as a way to screw everyone else.

“On Monday, Sept. 29, SIU/AMO confirmed that they will comply with Umpire Gottesman’s ruling.”

We’ll see how many APL/CMA will actually go through with. I’m sure the current state of maritime industry isn’t helping them to reflag to US but I’m sure they want to get those sweet incentives from Trump. Can’t go in front of the press with him and only reflag 1…

Where did anyone officially state they are not reflagging 20? The plan is 4 a year for 5 years. Has that officially been cancelled or just BS talk on here?

Yep. The plan that many of us believe is and was bullshit to start with. The wording I heard was the overall plan was “massively scaled back.”

Like I said — I’d be thrilled to be wrong and hope I am.

I predict three or four and really look forward to Trumpers getting to say “told you so” to my face about the full twenty. Please, please let them say that to me. Rub it in. Promises made, promises kept, etc, I can’t wait to be proven wrong.
