Got mine today and it’s good for 2 years.
I submitted mine end of Jan, emailed them the other day to see what’s taking so long, they said they never received it!

I had the same issue. My last STCW renewal was in May 2013 with a raise-in-grade that required a physical. For some reason they didn’t use this physical and issued me a one year medical cert that is due to expire in August. It took a few emails to get it all sorted out, but I just got word that they had made a mistake and they’ll be issuing me a new medical cert that expires two years after my last renewal. I can post up the email exchange if anybody else is having the same issue.
Emailed them about this as my medical cert is for the physical on my renewal a year ago, not the endorsement I’ll be hopefully getting issued shortly (recent, plus I submit annually to “act as pilot”). They said it won’t change the date…what the hell? I may do an “ammend application” email to ask specifically/formally that I be issued a renewal as i already have an open application and the physical has already been looked at? Not sure exactly how to handle it. No point in waiting a month+ for an evaluator again.
“You will need to submit a renewal of your medical certificate. The only item needed to renew your medical certificate is a physical exam within one year. Once you have submitted your renewal for medical certificate (physical) thru your servicing Regional Exam Center you will be issued a new medical certificate with new expiration dates free of charge. Currently the STCW portion of your medical certificate will not expire until ****2014.”
I just got a med cert that expires in May, and another that expires next May.
Did anyone not get theirs yet? I checked the NMC website and mine has been in the evaluation stage since November '13.
Edit- I called them today and it just happens to be at the printer today (what a coincidence! )
