Sal talks MEBA
Having been a past MEBA member I will say the talk from the current leader was not exactly awe inspiring
As a retired MEBA chief, neither was I.
If anyone other than readers of this forum see the video at least they will know MEBA exists, for whatever that is worth.
@tengineer1 @Steamer
I would love it if you gentleman could expand on your thoughts.
I’m starting an academy for the engineer side this fall and what union to get with has been on my mind.
MEBA for that pension. AMO for the online boards that accommodate the lifestyle I think I want traveling.
I’m not looking for an AMO vs MEBA thread. I just as a greenhorn saw the video and think things are looking up. And now it sounds like my ignorance of the industry is letting me miss something.
So, please forgive my ignorance, what am I missing here in regards to the interview being not awe inspiring.
Thanks!
As the video mentioned, longshoremen performing antiquated work getting 62% pay raises. Mariners’ salaries have been underperforming COLA for decades. And it’s a great mystery why there is a mariner shortage? Hell, Chouest hasn’t given a pay raise in 3 years, yet every employee scared to death to mention it.
