The sad thing is so many of the office AND vessel staff will refuse to entertain anything other than work in the oilfield. I was very surprised at the comments about “The Union” (evidently, to the bayou mind there is only one Maritime labor union) and leaving the Gulf of America would require blood rituals, loyalty oaths, a first born child, and no ability to gripe & complain without approval.
Enjoyed my time down there and the opportunity to upgrade, but wow … weird attitudes.
