Maritime Jobs in Japan for Americans

Hey community,

I am wondering if anyone has experience or resources for getting a maritime job in Japan. My wife and I are looking to move there, she has dual citizenship with the US and I only have US. I have been in the passenger vessel and tug industry for about 4 years now and cant seem to find any resources on maritime jobs available to Americans or even US flagged vessels that operate in Japan. I currently have AB and 100Ton endorsements. If you know some ways to find work over there, I would love to hear from you!
Thanks for reading,
-Mark

HMS Global Maritime/ Seaward Services runs a ferry out of Okinawa hauling US troops around. They have openings periodically. I had great shipmates when I was there.

There are some tugs (I’m not sure if they are chartered civilian tugs or government tugs) working for the US Navy in Japan with American crews. I believe that a security clearance is required.

wmoser Thanks for the response. I took a look at the HMS website and am sending some applications their way. very much appreciated[quote=“wmoser, post:2, topic:51287, full:true”]

I will definitely be doing some more digging here as a tug job would be preferred. thanks for the post

Military Sealift Command has quite a few vessels in that part of the world, with plenty of time ashore.
