I have a friend who is going to be involved in fire and emergency response at an LNG terminal overseas. He asked me if LNG carriers are better equipped, trained and capable of fighting traditional (ie non LNG fires) shipboard fires than other merchant vessels. He is well aware of the variety of equipment, training, staffing, etc that is found across the variety of merchant vessels worldwide. Having never worked in the gas field, So I’m not familiar with the industry standards on firefighting equipment and crew training that may exceed those of other sectors.
