Knocking on Doors in Louisiana
It doesn’t make companies look good in the unemployment arena when people collect on their off time. The way the system works in a lot of states as salt grain said, you wouldn’t end up gaining much especially if the pay period ends say a week after you already got off.

If you ship out on a ship for 6 months and don’t get ato or whatever it’s called then I can see scheming but personally it’s bullshit to do if you have a full time job (as far as compensation/benefits).
Neither job is full time or rotational. I made around 25k last year, and out of that paid for schools, test prep and licensing. Husband works but it’s been tough. I’m supposed to have something by the end of next month, hopefully. One job has benefits only when I’m working (government), the other has none.

I’m a rather stubbornly proud person…I paid for almost all of my stcw courses myself, license exam test prep myself, etc. I haven’t drawn UI in my life and I’ve been working all my adult life

So now I’m second guessing whether I made a mistake to go back to sea. It’s a slump…hopefully it will get better soon.

I probably shouldn’t have asked.
