King's Point Superintendent Reassigned... and MARAD has NOTHING to say about it
Curiously, I’ve also never heard anyone but a Statie pray for another schools demise.
What coincidence! I’ve never heard anyone but a KPer argue that there is a continued need for USMMA!
There isn’t any koolaid left in my system. I’ve paid too much in taxes over the years for that. I saw too much government waste working for uncle sam not to be able to see the truth, but as an alumni I would hate to see the place closed.
Why on earth much being a graduate of a certain school give one a need to believe it must exist in perpetuity when all the “rational” evidence indicates the wisdom that its day is past? Why do KP’ers kling to their alma mater with such devotion? Was it that life affirming to attend? Was it so worthwhile as an institution? Did it truly benefit you in a way that a state school could not (besides the obvious financial benefit or becoming a member of the “fraternity” in Stamford or Greenwich or Washington)?

Please do tell…I really want to know and I think this is germain to the topic at hand because the KP Alumni are square in the middle to this along with likes of LaHood, Matsuda, Gotay, Wallischek, Kumar & Mund and all the other B movie actors in this tawdry soapopera telenovela? Why was the USMMAAA silent while the now well documented criminal fraud was perpetrated for at least two decades at the Academy over the issuing and oversight of contracts by the “Administration”? If they hold the place in their hearts as such revered “old sod” and continue to lobby Congress for its forever funding why do they never demand that the bowl be flushed to get the turds to go away? Why do they allow the Munds and Wallischeks to wield such untrammeled influence over the place? Why have they silently supported (or at least tolerated) such corruption for so long? Indeed, why I ask?

.

Enough with the non related posts, on both sides. It’s easy enough to start a new thread that even KP grad, State school grad, or hawespiper can do it!

I agree with PEngineer. These guys are trolling and encouraging them by commenting on these less than serious analyses isn’t addressing the issue of MARAD/DOT governance and the impact on our industry. I really don’t care if these guys (or girls) think KP should exist or not. This is obviously not the place to make this argument, even if they had one, which is why they are simply trolling and stirring up comment. I would think they have better things to do than lurk around on this thread anyway, but evidently not.

I disagree with you that my position is non related! The wholesale cashiering of Greene points to systemic corruption at both KP and at MarAd. This coupled with the fraud scandals of the past indicates rot so pervasive that it cannot be expunged. Since Greene could not bring about the desperately needed changes then NOBODY can and if that is the case, then there is only one thing left to do and that is to just pull the plug. If the plug isn’t pulled then the school needs a complete gutting of the entrenched internal mafias that control it. Can you honestly tell me with a straight face that’s going to happen? I didn’t think so!

I suggest that you stop clinging to your alma mater with such blind devotion and the light you let in will show you reality.

BS to you sir! My arguments are germain because I pay Federal income tax which funds that almighty annoited institution. I also hold that they are valid and serious based on evidence in the record that KP has been a breeding ground for corruption for at least 20 years and that there is NO PROOF that the rot has been ripped out. I believe that Greene saw the putrifaction within KP’s hallowed halls and tried to exorcise it but the forces of corruption going all the way to Washington caused his removal. There has not been word one why he was FIRED and you tell me there isn’t something that doesn’t STINK to high heavan?

I believe the reason that Marad pulled the plug on Greene was that they are deperately fearful of another major scandal at KP. I fear that this one (which will come out eventually) will be much worse than the fraud which was discovered in the awarding of contracts there and which does likely involve sex just like at Colorado Springs and Annapolis. Marad is scared to death of getting another two black eyes and coming into the focus of the laserbeam of Congress…AGAIN!

As far as KP’s impact on our industry, there is none. Kings Pointers do not singlehandedly run the maritime industry much as they like to think so. The US maritime industry is run by men and women from all manner of origins including state schools and those who work their way up through the “hawsepipe” who are actually still the vast majority of where our mariners come from when you consider that the entire maritime industry includes thousands more workboats than deepsea merchant ships. Not too many KP’ers working in brownwater or rivers or harbors.

Lastly sir, I am not trolling or lurking…I am SPEAKING.

Good day to you!

Actually you are writing, and it should be in a different thread.

Settle down, kids.

Just as an FYI to everyone I recieved an email from a former USMMA board member about midshipmanhonor’s post. The person originally named in the post, a current usmma board member, was not the source of these comments. I followed up with the foundation over the phone and, have since removed the board members name.
