Inland mate to oceans

Hey guys. I am interested in leaving the inland area and would like to work near costal or oceans. I have a 1600t mate with a TOAR. Can I test to get a 3rd mates or while I have to ride as AB. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks. Looks like ill need to ride AB for awhile. No worries. Any advice in making the transition from inland to oceans? Courses? Job areas? Paths to work towards? Obviously I’d like to do this without too much loss in pay bit I don’t know if that’s possible.
