This speaks to cult mythology. In cult mythology all of Europe is a socialist hellhole, ready to fall apart tomorrow.
That’s why the cult got so emotionally invested in Brexit. Europe was dragging Britain down, they said.
The opposite was true. The average Briton now thinks Brexit was a mistake because since then the EU’s economy has fared much better than Britain’s. Britain’s economy tanked. That’s why they ran through so many prime ministers after Brexit.
A lot of cult members have never been to Europe. They just listen to whatever youtube video/podcaster has caught their fancy, and those commentators keep pushing the myth that Europe hates America and is a hellhole.

Democracy, the majority voted leave.
It was the stupidous thing I have ever done in my life, vote remain.
