Hornblower clogging job postings

I did go to a maritime college ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I also miss @ccaptain and the banter with him about just about any subject. Anybody know where he has taken his writing?

Why would you want to know anything in Norwegian? Isn’t English good enough?:

In that context I don’t feel humble, nor have any heroes here. There are some who’s opinion I respect more than others, though.

Add on:
It is said that “all publicity is good publicity”. Not sure if that only apply to politicians, but it is nice to have been the centre of attention for a brief moment, no matter what’s the occasion.

I follow your Twitter, I still like it here though.

Thanks for the internal update on gCaptain @john … I have long appreciated this website in all it’s forms & the broad work you do, but you still have “Parking Attendant” etc etc still up on the jobs page vis-a-vis Hornblower.

Referring to the OP, so the maritime jobs page is now just a ‘jobs’ page?? I would hope there’s some standards.

Disney has cruise ships, guess I’ll be on the lookout for the Micky Mouse maskot & Dream Maker janitor positing.

Standards are needed. Otherwise applicable positions and reputable companies of the merchant marine will continue to go elsewhere. With a modicum of effort gCaptains jobs page could easily be the A#1 US maritime jobs page.

A bit disappointed.

Best regards to all.

I’m all ears for how this effort should be applied just note, we give away news and forum memberships free of charge, jobs postings can’t also be given away for free.

Is this accurate?

I’m not a fan of banning people. The current public flogging is not a bad start. How about limit the amount of links somebody can put up so that a little more thought goes into the content. It’s borderline robot-level spamming.

All due respect John, the “you guys” on this forum aren’t going to beat a path to your door with polished copy. This is coming from a part time copy editor providing support to an established in-demand content editor: IMO, you need a content editor with the ability to find and cultivate a stable of writers to produce a flow of content. I know it’s an investment and from the sound of it, you don’t have the resources. It’s a shame because you already have some of the framework.

PS - My content editor has a full plate but if you’re ever in the market for a freelance copy editor…

I totally agree and we have brought on content editors in the past but, let’s just say, managing mariners even (maybe especially) highly intelligent, well spoken ones is a unique talent.

As for the jobs section, pay more attention to the Hornblower - Seaward Services jobs. I work there, and it’s the best company I’ve ever worked for. Those are coastwise OSV (Trinity class) jobs doing military contracts and blue water/MSC, and Civ RoPax ferry jobs. If you want more info message me. Need mates AB’s QMEDs Engineers and Stews.

Would that be Oxtail Stew, Irish Stew, or just any type of stews?
