In reading over the entire thread I see that Poland, once again, gets left out. They were victims of a serious disinformation campaign by Stalin to denigrate their contribution to defeating Hitler. Stalin wanted badly to annex Poland after the war and took every opportunity to belittle them.

Elements of their army fought on the Eastern front and a large contingent marched to the middle east and joined the Allies in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. A Polish unit captured Monte Cassino after fierce fighting had forced the other allies to withdraw.
Polish pilots made up 20% of the airmen in the Battle of Britain.
At Stalin’s insistence the Poles were excluded from the allied conference in Yalta and not allowed to march in the London victory parade.

Yes I mentioned the battle of Britain in my originally posed question as an example of a defensive stand. Defensive stands are admirable and not insignificant but would not serve to defeat the third Reich. That would require offensive power to strike at the heart of the Nazi industrial machine which was non existent prior to the US entry. Hence, no path for Nazi defeat without US entry.

I don’t have any violently opposite opinions. Your original suggestion was that Hitler was reluctant to fight Britain with a reason being some Nazi/royal family connections.
In the end Hitler fought Britain throughout the war with Britain the only nation there at the start and staying until the final surrender. So whatever he thought about invasion, he created a determined, forever enemy which he had to fight regardless. He wanted Britain one way or the other but couldn’t have it.
Your suggestion of the Nazi/royal thing as a reason for not invading doesn’t stand up to scrutiny and I attempted to answer that aspect of your question.
