Here's a creepy and unrealistic future bridge control video from Rolls-Royce!

Two things that stood out to me in the video are that

1.) A complete control system anywhere near this comically dependent on proprietary software and exotic hardware is an invitation for a minor glitch to completely knock out navigational control, pending repair by a team of RR reps flown in overnight from London, and

2.) The external view of their “ship of the future” shows a much smaller house with no windows, no ladders, and presumably no crew. What’s the point of the “Future Operator Experience Concept, oX” when there’s nobody onboard except Otto? Seems like they’re showing a different product than the one they’re talking about.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but it’s new to me.

yup…posted before and yesterday’s ugly news of tomorrow. I should know because I started it.

oh for the love of God…what are they doing to seafaring?

Well, shucks. At least I was able to add the video. :stuck_out_tongue:

Couple of things. . . the arctic route to the far east. . . . seems to make the deck department expendable. . . . still gonna need an engineer or two, though. . . .
