Greetings from Norway

They were rowdy while they lasted. After a couple of pints the party was over and they all took a wee nap. Shades of the Connaught Hotel, London Docks.

Ships in the Coastal Express service sail along the Norwegian coast from Bergen to Kirkenes v.v.
Daily departures from Bergen every evening, with calls at 34 ports each way on an 11 day roundtrip
The ships are purpose built for this service, able to carry passengers and cargo between ports, or for the entire journey. (incl. cruise passengers)
Port called in daytime one way usually gets called at night the other way.

Presently served by two companies; Hurtigruten ASA (8 ships) and Havila Kystruten (4 ships)
Here is Hurtigruten’s ship MV Nordkapp seen northbound between Tromsø and Skervøy ports 13. July. 2024:

Here is another Norwegian village looking for more people to move in:

Situated in the Vesterålen area:

Well north of the Arctic Circle, with midnight sun in the summer and northern lights in the winter.

Close by Stø is the former fishing village of Nyksund:

Nyksund has been abandond several times, but have been revived and transformed.
The latest transformation is to an artist and tourist magnet:

So if anybody feel the urge to move to place with spectacular nature and recreational possibilities, Vesterålen is welcoming you.

Lot of talk about trolls here.
Meet a real big one:

Hunderfossen park, Lillehammer, Norway

Since Trollstigen is closed this year, tourists have found a new spectacular road not far away,
Aursjøvegen:

Maybe not the best view, but quite exciting experience:

If mountain roads are not your cup of tea, maybe the Atlantic Ocean Road would be more to your liking?:

Need some exercise?:

Bus stop in Bjørnevatn, Finnmark. Made out of an old excavator grab.

Better seen in summer:

Most solid bus stop ever…
Christer Berge Hansen:
The original shelter at the bus stop was vandalized totally several times. The municipality got tired and some smart heads found to reuse some obsolete mining equipment. This is a bucket from an old excavator that was used in the mine in Bjørnevatn.

Here is an explanation of why this is an important part of Norwegian lifestyle:

Not everybody like it simple:

Ålesund has been “center of the world” for a couple of days:

Yesterday was especially bus, with three cruise ships in town, at the same time as Princess Martha Louise, her future husband and 300 of their nearest friends and family held a “meet and greet” party in town, before heading to Geiranger by boat for the wedding ceremony tomorrow.

Som pictures from this wet and cool summer her in NW Norway.

Even rainy days can bring amazing experiences.

Not yet but that time is getting closer:

At the moment it is still unusually warm in Northern Norway, with max temperatures exceeding 20C forecast for the nearest few days:

PS> It has been a very warm summer up there this year:
