I only have one question – why didn’t the extremely mobile Wilson roll out and either score or throw the ball away on the second down pass play? An incomplete pass still stops the clock. Then there is third down with one timeout left and plenty of time. It’s almost as though Carroll’s staff thought a field goal was an option (and therefore over-valued their last timeout). I believe more and more that there was just confusion, a poor plan, and ultimately critically poor execution. Anytime people see such a questionable plan combined with horrible execution, there’s good reason to speculate!
