How about putting on the top of each topic (within the thread menu Like a stickie) a bold note to users looking for general information to USE the search function. Possibly with a short note that most topics have been discussed and many solutions are already in the existing threads. Maybe even have a shortcut to the search box on each page within this note. It would appear to this individual that the location of the search box is too far removed from where people are actually looking.
Lately it seems people are too lazy to search and are using the GCaptain search engine (the respondents) to do their homework for them. Although it pisses me off when a student so obviously puts up a homework question, this laziness by newbies is ridiculous.
Just a thought.
One question… should the offender actually get slapped when somebody hits the button or can we just infect his computer with a nasty virus? I only ask because the logistics of sending our bouncers out every time a dumb post is submitted might overwhelm our security staff
I think a “like” button would be nice along with the “bitch slap” button. There are posts I would like to “like” but they don’t warrant a “thank”. Like funny stuff, etc.

Perhaps you could enlist a volunter security force, kind of like the gcaptain militia. You could get a couple volunteers strategically spread out around all 3 coast’s, to take some of the work load off the Morro Bay mafia. I am sure you would have no problem getting volunteers to go take care of some of the offenders.
I do kind of like the bitch slap counter though, and the like feature as well.
If there can be a Bitch Slap button how about next to it an “Ignore the Crusty Old Bastard” button! I know some guys who would just love to press that each time.

You can hire independent non-exclusive slappers on a case by case basis.
