Funny SCAM I saw

Being out of work I was giving anything a shot. This was obviously a scam from the start. I’ve spent a few months looking at the job board here and applied to nearly every company I could find online and also received many humorous job offers. This was one of the best. Anyway, I just thought I would post it for entertainment value. No one here would fall for such horse sh*t. But it made me smile while being unemployed.

It would also be helpful if you could inform me of the airport you will be reserving my airline ticket for. Please make sure that it is a first class flight. I will only fly first class. I also require limousine service from the airport to the ship. I prefer an extended limousine with a fully stocked bar. The driver of the limousine must be clean (I have a sensitive sense of smell that can detect the faintest body oder) and appropriately dressed in a suit with tails and a sharp drivers hat. A gril or three in the limousine would be looked upon highly, I like them little in the middle but with much back.

Did you find this one on the craigslist? It sounds like a bunch of 'em I have seen on that site. Your email response sounds just about like what most employers will ask of you these days. Pretty d%*# funny!

I just get emails for this “job” all the time. A first it was fun to write creative insults and respond, it helped get through the monotony of job hunting. Then I started getting insulting emails back, they were of very poor quality and boring so I gave it up.

I saw a scam on Craigslist a while back that duped a LOT of desperate people.

The ad was for commercial fishing crew members (2 deckhands) on a salmon boat for the summer in Alaska.

The perspective victims emailed the ad and got a response which said that your qualifications were reviewed and they were going to hire you (sight unseen and with no references) for a high paying gig in Alaska. The part that really duped folks was that the guy said his wife had Alaska Airline miles and would help you get to Alaska and in fact they would even go so far as reserve you a ticket and then you had to send the rest of the ticket cost to them (about $300 bucks). Needless to say nothing was heard from those scammers again.

I saw the ads and then after they had been posted up all over Craigslist, there were some folks that had been duped and responded on Craigslist outlining the scam and it’s details.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Sure, the various maritime crewing agecies and headhunters charge a hefty fee, but at least they get you a job without ANY upfront costs.
