I just purchased second hand ( a caveat emptor) kind of deal some older mariner glasses. Well it turns out the binoculars are great! Nice clean lenses, good focal action etc. The problem however is the compass. It’s reading ± 150 degrees off. I just don’t quite get it. Any thoughts?
of course the compass reads way off…you’re in Loosiana for Christ’s sake. Everything reads 180 degrees opposite from the real world down there!
Fujinon makes a number of 7X50 models. The FMTRC-SX Polaris model is the top of the line. An excellent binocular,
The compass can get out of whack during shipping, or if it is carried around a lot in a backpack. Mine did that for a short while, then the compass card slipped back into place. Can’t explain why, but it did.
If yours does not settle down, there is a repair station in California: http://www.bakermarineusa.com/
Thanks for the heads up on that company water. It would make sense if the card were stuck but it swings nicely. It’s like the magnet reversed its poles but only by 150 degrees.
I have a pair of the Fujinon’s Mariner 7x50. GREAT pair of glasses that I have had for some time. Baker Marine is a FIRST RATE organization! My pair took a header in the wheelhouse and prisms jostled out of alignment rendering them useless. Sent them off to Baker for a timely AND affordable repair. Can’t say enough about them
