for Christ’s sake, take the ENSCO job. Always take the higher position…ALWAYS!

Depends on your goals. Do you need time for a Master’s upgrade? Where are the ship’s going? Can you live with horrible baby blue paint? Do you want to be a Master later working for an OIM or be the OIM?
If a DPO, two paygrades less than Ch Mate, is making the same at Maersk as an Ensco Mate, that’s a red flag for me about Ensco.

i was wondering the same thing? did he mean Sr DPO? have a hard time believing that DPO Maersk pays same as Ensco C/M, but then again i have hard time believing that Transocean C/M only makes $5 grand or so more than Sr. DPO. but it’s true.
I would give Ensco a wide berth if I had a choice.
At ensco your license may be on the same level as toilet paper. Unless a driller was using that toilet paper, then your license would be less.

Actually it is about 10k more at ensco but that amount of money is not going to be a factor in my decision.
Come on, Ted. What’s the driving factor than if it isn’t money? Sea time towards your Master’s License? What else could there be aside from those two if you are looking to leave your cushy DP job at Noble? Take the CM job and as soon as the ink is wet on your New license, shank the old man in the back and try to promote yourself. You’ll probably have about 5 years experience by then, maybe 6 so why not

This “Old Man” has his own shank and eyes in the back of his head!!! So come get it…but it won’t be easy!
Not sure about this maybe someone could clarify but is ensco part of anadarko some how?

why would you think that?..it is only that Anadrako has a close business relationship with ENSCO and charters lots of their rigs just as Noble having a close relationship with Shell (although me thinks that one is strained hence why Shell is going to TO nowdays for new drillships)
