Eco new builds

I SAW THIS ON THE LOCAL NEWS TODAY. NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Edison Chouest (SHWEST) Offshore says it will build more than 40 new vessels to meet growing demand for offshore oil and gas support in the Gulf of Mexico, the Arctic and Brazil.
The new vessels continue a build campaign the Galliano-based company launched in 2011. Edison Chouest did not disclose the cost of the newest round of builds.

Most of the construction work will be spread among Chouest’s four U.S.-affiliate shipyards - North American Shipbuilding in Larose, LaShip in Houma, Gulf Ship in Gulfport, Miss., and Tampa Ship in Tampa, Fla. - as well as its Brazilian shipyard, Navship.

Here’s a few more (technical) details on this: http://www.akbizmag.com/Alaska-Business-Monthly/July-2013/Edison-Chouest-Offshore-Announces-New-Vessels-Port-Facilities-Expansion/

Now would be a good time to invest in orange colored hard hats.

I also heard chouest gave 100 dollar a day raise can anyone confirm

Haven’t heard anything about that other than rumors, but I’m at home right now.

I’m on the boat now no raise here yet. I have been told a raise is coming depending on how your vessel audit goes.

no word of a raise at Chouest that’s just an unsubstantiated rumor. Probably someone started to slow the hemorrhaging of trained personnel to Harvey

The last I knew Chouest was a family owned company.

It is family owned. I think the investment he is referring to is orange hard hats for all the new employes ECO would have to buy.

Chances are ECO owns the company that makes the orange hard hats.

I think Gary recently bought all rights to the color orange in general.

Solas is paying him royalties

I just got a bill in my email for typing the word or***e…

To funny right there.

You might also have just become an “inappropriate thread”!

Inappropriate would be what I would Have to do in order to get a new one of these new boats. I don’t make enough money to take care of my family and juice the coordinators and managers to get one. I am told “juicing” is the key to getting a new boat. Take it how you want to. Hard work and knowing your vessels does not fit the criteria anymore.

Dont feel bad, your not alone, its like that alot of places anymore. Working here you better be willing to “take one for the team” on a regular basis if you want a newer vessel or something closer to home.

Do you work for Eco ?

No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I’m just kidding. I do work at ECO.
