SBX funding, which was at $176.8 million in fiscal 2012, sharply decreases to a steady $9.7 million annually through fiscal 2017.
The White House in budget documents suggests that the SBX will be maintained in a “limited test support” role, saving “at least $500 million over five years while also retaining the ability to recall it to an active, operational status if and when it is needed.”
Stack the SBX, stack the Dove. Wonder if Gary is still being paid the remainder of the contract.[/QUOTE]
I can barely find the words to convey how sweet this news is for me to read. There have been thousands of stupid projects funded by the DoD over the decades but there have been none stupider that the SBX!
Thank God almighty that there are sane people in the White House and Pentagon who realized that the concept of this “thing” was ill conceived from the start and never ever would be able to do what it was intended for. You know that both Boeing and ECO must be getting a hansome buy out of their contracts but at least this abomination of a program is finally going where it should which is AWAY!
