Documenting Seatime

How have you documented your missing seatime when you cannot get a seatime letter from the company because the company is no longer in business?

If you sailed as Master, can you just write yourself a discharge, send one copy to the company’s last know address, and one copy to the USCG?

Has anyone successfully used a sworn affidavit with attached contemporaneous records (such as crew lists and crew change travel arrangements) from the ship?

Yes, this is something i would like to know also

i have many seasons commercial fishing for small family business , myself being one of those,2 others ,but both employers now being dead , my DAD [one of for mentioned ] i have 15 seasons out on the salt with .but no documentation to prove it
