Yep, I too say Screw BP. And screw this rubbish of trying to claim it’s all an inherited AMOCO problem. I beg to differ, and so does the US Chemical Safety Board. Anybody here ever read the report and/or watched the video about the Texas City explosion?

If you stick it out and watch the video all the way to the final part where they’re passing around the blame, you will discover that BP is criticized for a top-down culture that puts production ahead of safety, and more to the point the investigators comment that BP systematically gutted and destroyed the good safety culture AMOCO had created and maintained.

By going to {Forum Actions -> General Settings} and changing the number of posts displayed per page from “Forum Defaults” to “100” I was able to see a little ways beyond Post 4350. I don’t think we missed much; looked to me like nobody could see beyond 4350 and they were posting away wondering why their posts were vanishing. So really there were only a few posts, but they were posted multiple times due to confusion…

I am wondering if that was a possible ignition source or just a vent line coming off diesel storage etc. Anyway thanks again for showing the diffewrent sources of energy to the fire.

Alf, I guess it would be toward what was labeled the starboard aft corner. I checked the drawing you posted & couldn’t identify an ignition/ energy source in that area. I also blew up the picture & you can see the blow coming out of the rig floor & not ignited at the point this picture was taken. the on take later shows massive fire in the middle of the rig. I’m not sure what all this tells us, but there is a message there to be interpreted.
