Just watched something on British TV broadcast as far as I know for the first time tonight.
It was the first of a series entitled " Why Bridges Collapse" it was about The Dali and the Baltimore Bridge.
It was on the BBC so will be available on the iPlayer if anyone knows how to link this please do so.
I was expecting the usual journalistic trash but was pleasantly surprised by how well presented it was.
There was none of the hysterical ranting about damn foreigners knocking down our bridge but reasonable debate about what actually happened. It did focus on the clean up operations and the recovery of the bodies from the river. Let’s give credit where it is due, it was a magnificent operation to re open the port in such a short space of time.
Dr Sal was on there several times and IMHO spoke rather well.
There were several parts about the Colonel from the Army Corps of Engineers, The assistant Salvage Master from Don John, The State Governor, Coast Guard , NTSB and what we would term over here as Secretary of State for Transport.
Also featured quite frequently was a Structural Engineer who stated quite emphatically that this was avoidable and even foreseen. I was unaware that a smaller ship had hit the Bridge in 1980 and destroyed a fender. IIRC that ship was 120m so had a fraction of the energy of Dali.
There is a utube ch “Why Bridges Collapse” and I thought i would find it there. BBC TV which channel??? as it looks they have a couple . Can You be so kind and give some directions/hints how to find it. Screen shot or sth?? Please.
Spo,
It was on BBC 1 last night so I presume it is available on the iPlayer.
Mr Bugge put something up on another thread last night and details how to access the iPlayer from outside the UK.
Obviously being in the UK I cannot test it.
I still wonder why M/S Dali suddenly changed course in the outbound channel from Baltimore and then went aground far away from the bridge and stopped. I have been told a pillar well outside the channel supporting the bridge was damaged, but how could a grounded and stopped ship do that? Does the BBC program explain that?
Thanks for asking. I still don’t know what happened, i.e. why did MS Dali suddenly turn starboard in the channel leaving Baltimore and then ran aground? Electric fault? Turning the rudder? If you know more I will update my website about it. The Dali shipowner suddenly died ashore afterwards. Do you have details about that?
?? Conspiracy theories? I just work with safety ar sea since 1970 especially ferry safety, e.g. the Estonia sinking 1994 by terrorists in the Baltic sea killing >1000 persons.
I think the Illuminati sent an underwater drone to send a signal to the engine control system that stopped the engine. then sent a limited EMP to stall the generators,. Then the drone collided with the Dali on its starboard quarter pushing the bow to starboard and crashing into the bridge. After this the underwater drone then dissolved in seawater, !( Is the water seawater at that place ?) Or if not then dissolve in fresh water, ( Or is the water brackish? ) So it dissolved in some type of water, anyway it dissolved somehow and the Illuminati benefited somehow from ruining the economy of a part of the United States.
Or actually it was a cyber attack from North Korea that interfered with the fuel supply to the generators that shut down the steering.
Or maybe it was cerebral attack from martians that got into the brains of the Pilots and commanded them to steer towards the bridge.
It’s “complicated”. I have installed the ap on my tablet being outside UK (do not ask how). But looks like it is “pay to play” .Obviously I am not willing to pay just to watch one clip.
But have noticed on the ap one can download the clip . I am not sure if this download ends on equipment internal memory or external memory card.
But if it does , what You can check surely , then pls be so kind and check. Once we have it let me know and we can discuss further action
Cheers
TBH Spo.
It was a pretty good program but I wouldn’t recommend paying to see it.
Was just pleasantly surprised by the standard of journalism which is sadly lacking in a lot of cases.
