Covid-19 News/Updates

This is the original article as published in one of the major Dutch newspapers De Telegraaf, but it is in Dutch I am afraid. Maybe Google translate can help.

The scientists have published their new insights in Nature Medicine. They hope that the new fundamental knowledge about the virus can help in developing treatments that can reduce transmission.

The people have spoken. Individual 1 should begin exercising his Right to Remain Silent.

My flights into New Orleans were quite sparse but there were only about 50% mask wearers.

The lady is blinking SOS! Baffled…

But then you never know, I bought a couple of bottles desinfectant, just to be on the safe side. The shelf was almost empty so hurry. Maybe I can even help the neighbors, although I don’t like them much, just to show my human side.

Researchers from Amsterdam UMC are looking for antibodies against the coronavirus to be found in the breast milk of women who have had a Covid-19 infection. If so, they want to study whether a drug for vulnerable groups can be made from this breast milk. This is stated on the site of the medical center in the capital.

It’s a win win. If more people start drinking desinfectant it will ease the toilet paper shortage.

!st chuckle of the day, was thinking the same thing.

When I was at the store the other day I ran into a woman I’ve known for awhile. She works as a Medical Librarian and I was asking her about the Corona Virus. She told me about an article she had just read which detailed Vitamin D3 ( part of the D complex)

It suggest getting 15 minutes of sun on your bare skin (between 9am and 3pm) each day
as it will bolster the immune system and cut the risk of respiratory bugs by .64%. The report suggested 3000 iu’s of vitamin D would be gained from this. Consider 10 minutes as a minimum exposure.

Getting your daily vitamin C is also recommended.

This came from a study published by Boston University she said…

Perhaps, this is why they are saying when hot weather gets here the Corona virus will go away but possibly return again when cold weather returns this fall/winter and it becomes more difficult to get the sun on your skin.

Just thought I’d mention this for those who don’t get much sun in their job…

Looks like the SARS COV-2 virus that causes Covid-19 thrives in the tropics as well.

Plenty of warm and humid weather and bright sunshine year around.

Maybe other viruses of the large Corona family react differently? (Like the many different viruses that can cause the flue and the common cold?):

There is a theory that the Coronavirus especially depends for the spreading of the virus where there is a combination of warmth and especially humidity. Some scientist showed that with a worldmap on which zones with warm and humid zones were indicated. Yes, we hear many stories these days but I thought that I should mention it.

As to the Vitamin D3 being a preventative:

Still, it’s hard to say what will end this pandemic.

Evidence that Vitamin D Supplementation Could Reduce Risk of Influenza and COVID-19 Infections and Deaths.

Read that article today, wow, but not surprised.

Meanwhile back at the farm and speaking about madness. Georgia reopens barber shops, hair and nail salons, gyms, tattoo parlors and bowling alleys and that while the death toll is rising and the peak in Georgia is expected over five days. Nevertheless business is now as usual.

Is it technically possible to sue a governor or a state in the US for instance on account of serious negligence resulting in death? If so lawyers will already be sharpening their knives…

Possible? Yes. Likely to prevail? No. See: qualified immunity.

Okay, smart cookies. Then suing the president is probably also not
possible. This in view of an article in the Daily News which said:

30 New Yorkers take detergent after Trump’s comments about ingesting disinfectant insertion to stop virus.

Now we have to wait for the results in other parts of the country.

Damn people are stupid.

Frightened people often act unwisely.

A sitting president is protected.

In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that the President is entitled to absolute immunity from liability for civil damages based on his official acts. The court emphasized that the President is not immune from criminal charges stemming from his official (or unofficial) acts while in office.

Natural selection at work.
