Actually I had never heard of her before stumbling on her name in connection with looking at Pitcairn Island:

You mean her posting to Wellington as “British High Commissioner to New Zealand, and Governor of the Pitcairn Islands from January 2018 to July 2022” was some kind of “less desirable diplomatic postings”?
I forgot she was the High Commissioner. NZ is up there as a desirable postings I understand. Wellington is too full of Bureaucrats for me and I keep my distance, 700Km for me to take much interest. At least she doesn’t have to live on Pitcairn.

Back to the future. Hanna Reitsch flew the WW11 version inside a hanger before the war. I think she was the first female helicopter pilot ever. She was inducted into the US Whirlybirds association of women pilots after the war. She was an unrepentant Nazi until she died.
The name Whirlybirds induced a collective snort of derision from the female participants in our history study group when I mentioned it in our history study group.
