I had occasion to be in far northern New Hampshire during the spring years ago. My gal and I would get up before dawn to drive to a known moose-spotting highway. They’d be standing in the drainage ditches enjoying the salt run-off and some fresh ditch greens. The males tended to take off, while the females weren’t bothered, even those with calves.
