Coaster - Offshore

Good day, maybe someone know is it really possible to find job on offshore vessels if I have experience only on coaster vessels? Thanks

Wow great post…not

Why don’t you Google that and see what you find. Maybe Search “offshore entry level jobs” …quit being lazy and actuallydo some research. You also have to get a couple certificates and documents before you will even be considered to get hired. It’s not as simple as just showing up and expecting to go on a boat ride.

What’s a coaster vessel? I’m guessing, and probably wrong, but is a coaster vessel just driftwood? Or flotsam?

I want a coaster that can hold my coffee cup upright in bad wx. I’ve been having to use a roll of duct tape for years.

I think maybe Coaster works on a small coastal freighter running up to remote ports in Alaska. I’ve seen it in Dutch Harbor. They don’t have STCW endorsed seamen on it. I don’t blame him for wanting out of that gloomy weather up there most of the year.

Right now offshore jobs are few and far between for people WITH experience. Wait until oil drilling picks up again then go for it.
