China & Russia to attack Hawaii?

I see … methinks you are a leftist democrat, running to defend the MSM you so love. Understood.

My reply … what took them so long??? Where’ve they been the last few years?

B’cuz now sleepy Joe is in charge. Calling it like I see it.

We can do this all day …

Who did you vote for President in the last election of 2020?

Bait and switch?

I didn’t address the Great Leap Forward, Hundred Flowers or Cultural Revolution. I addressed the semantics of stealing; colonial rulers’ repatriation of artifacts from former colonies and how that would not apply here… unless China is a former colony of Taiwan.

Yep the world would be a better place if the ccp would go and Taiwan controls the mainland.
The CCP in its fervor to stay in control may well be suicidal as staying in control is the number one priority not looking after its citizens.
Brainwash the cannon fodder is what any war will be about.

PS the Mao killed off the rich that owned museums and artifacts so the Nationalist saved them so future generations could get to see them.
Best thing that ever happened to Chinese people worldwide is Taiwan.

Bugge, whats your CCP handler going to make of this…are you saying the cultural revolution was a mistake and this hundred year celebration marks a blight in Chinese history so we should forget it?

If you wipe out the culture in one generation what came before has little consequence as the aim of the revolution was to remove any links to it.

Thats the dilema of the ccp, either Taiwanese nationalists were correct or the cultural revolution was.
So if Chinese culture is in Taiwan how come its not in China. Wanting it back is admitting they destroyed it but some survived overseas.

PS havent we had a pissing contest with Russia and China trying to show whos ideology is better once before? ( Typical of 2 desperate regimes trying to stay in power, no matter the cost to the people. Both countries infamous for killing more of their own than any war ever has. Although in modern days reducing your population is certainly a big step forward to reducing Co2 output as long as they bury the bodies)

What is MSM? I have never understood that. Is it whatever media you do not agree with?
What educators are teaching the joys of communism? Can you give examples?
What is democratic socialism and where are people being rounded up and censored under democratic socialism? China is certainly not democratic. The Nordic countries are generally considered to be democratic socialist but I don’t see them rounding up folks and sending them to prison. They seem to be pretty content.

What have you been reading? The NYT has been reporting on the Uighurs since at least 2018. You asserted this:

MSM has been reporting on the Uighur situation as long or longer than non-MSM sources. And since this is easily proven by Googling the subject, how can you say Big Tech will “censor anything putting China in a bad light in general” sInce Big tech operates Google? Thus, your statement is easily proven false. If you think I’m wrong, google “China atrocity”. Up comes an army of articles on the subject explaining in detail China’s brutality. Hence, how can you say China controls Big Tech?

Nope. Centrist independent. But how do my political leanings affect easily provable facts? Do facts change with party affiliation?

The rest of your postings are opinions on things you don’t like. You’re entitled to your opinions.

Taiwan reminds me in some ways of Hungary in 1956. Different background, but same power dynamic.

In 1956, the Hungarians revolted against their Soviet overlords. The Soviets were big-time mass murderers. Operated a chain of gulag prison camps. Not known for their religious tolerance. Etc.

The USA had been encouraging people behind the Iron Curtain to revolt against the Soviets. So, when the Hungarians revolted, they appealed to the USA and NATO for help. The USA and NATO did nothing. Why? Doing so might have triggered WW3.

The Soviet Union was once viewed as an unstoppable force, gobbling up nations all around the world. It was unbeatable. The USA, according to a lot of Americans, was rotting from within, due to its worthless young people, who were a bunch of limp-wristed, pot-smoking, beatnik commies.

Fast forward: Soviet Union? Gone. Defeated not by war, but by economics. Europe and Hungary: still there. No WW3.

Beatniks? Still here. Irony: a lot of them complain nowadays about the limp-wristed, latte-swilling, snowflakes turning the country over to China.

That is obvious.

Regarding the wave of socialism in this country by (relatively) younger people who don’t quite “get it” … maybe you should start here:

After all that work you did, you didn’t answer the final question.

Biden or Trump?

That was decided by a large majority of US voters last Nov. IFAIK.(??)

Most of Europe practise “Democratic Socialism”, even when “Right Wing” parties are in power, like they are in Britain (Conservatives) at the moment. Yet they love their NHS (socialised Heat Care for all)

No need to be dead scared of Socialism. The Nordic countries are maybe the most “Socialistic” of all, yet also the most Democratic. They are topping the “Freedom” statistics, both for politics. press freedom and business. (I have posted some of these statistics here earlier, but you can Google it if you want)

PS> Even your “Socialists” , or “Lefties” in the US would be classified as “Right Wing” by Nordic standard.

Why shutdown a perfectly good thread?

The best I read about China was said by the Soviet dissident and Nobel peace prize winner Andrei Sakharov “ A country that does not respect the rights of its own citizens will not respect the rights of its neighbours.”
China has introduced surveillance of its own citizens with its social credit in a way that is totally beyond George Orwell’s imagination. The USA has some very good opinion writers in The Atlantic and other periodicals that are well worth reading.
There is a difference between those countries that have a comprehensive health system. Good education and a safety net for the less fortunate but still champion respect for each other and freedom of speech and those countries like Russia, China and others who repress their own citizens.
The USA spends more on health care than any other country but the outcome is distinctly uneven.
Having said that I know no country is perfect.

The CCP is so paranoid as you might have seen they send agents to Universities to spy on and pressure Chinese students.
Has been lots of issues with that in Australia.
Like spoiled brats the CCP cannot stand any criticism.

I read “The Age” or “The Sydney Morning Herald” from time to time to gauge the feeling over there. Australia, with some of the top universities in the world is seen by the CCP as being a prime territory to spy on. The students parents can earn points on their good citizen score for having one of their offspring send back material. The technology the Chinese are interested in is wide ranging, NZ has lost stuff involving horticultural research.

yes its not just stealing everything as they dont have an original thought in their minds, its 100% control of the population no matter where they are in the world.

I heard from my contacts in China the other day the ccp posted on news sites all over the country every day about the building collapse in Miami . BUT…
Huge backfire as so much stuff falls down in China the locals everywhere worked out the CCP hides it from the news as many people know stuff falls down but never gets in the news…
So one building half falls down in the USA and its not normal which the average Chinese person now knows…how come lots falls down in China?
The CCP propaganda machine is just made up of a bunch if uneducated morons. This building collapse just proved it, they should of said nothing.

But you have gained some too- Your maybe most famous agricultural export, the Kiwifruit, (AKA Chinese Gooseberry) is a good example:

PS> No, the CCP did not plant any secret spying devises in the fruits/berries.

If buildings keep on falling down in China and nothing is published about it, how do you know this secret??

Ahh the “Buddy network” of course!!
Some member just happen to be on the scene every time a building fall and report it to the buddies at the table in the Marina in Singapore by a secret communication channel, (since the CCP control all other means)

How cleaver. Hope the CCP spies at Nanyang and/or NTU doesn’t get wind of this and send their assassinators to Singapore to eliminate the source(s) of the leak…

BTW; Very suspicious that a “Buddy” happen to be near every time a building fall. Maybe they are more than just leakers of secrets??

PS> Sounds like the base for an action movie? Free for the taking, but who gets to play Powerabout??

While I appreciate your knowledge of all things nautical the Hayward variety of Kiwi fruit was developed from the Chinese gooseberry which was the size of a grape. The Hayward variety is the common green one which is planted all over the world and is not covered by any trademark. Zespri, the golden kiwi fruit is trademarked and just like apple varieties and some pears is trademarked by NZ and other countries.
The gold kiwi fruit looks and tastes nothing like its distant rather tart ancestor and it this that the argument is about. Fortunately the Chinese attempting to take cuttings off a new variety of apple out of the country were relieved of their burden before boarding their aircraft.
The fruit and vegetables we enjoy today are much different from the original due to selective breeding, often over centuries.
They have now developed a red kiwi fruit but plantings are still limited.

geez …
the internal social media in china gets news out till the gov jumps on it.
So anyone in china gets to read it.
Many of the failures have made the international press anyway.

I am starting to think you were home schooled in a village with a population of 10 so no primary, secondary or university/college friends, not involved in any sporting activities or hobbies, ran away to travel the seven seas but led a sedentary life just in shipping and clearly your knowledge of Singapore is just what you read in the newspaper.
Then retired to a village with the same 10 people in it.

You are really struggling to understand that somebody could have an array of friends of all nationalities in all sorts of industries worldwide.
I have worked in several industries so that expanded my group of global friends.

Singapore being so compact is a perfect opportunity to get to know many captains of industries by just living life here, (and especially sailing as thats a big expat sport in Asia). how did you miss out on all that and you lived here for longer than I have to date?

I know a bit about other things than maritime natters and that includes that the original Chinese berries, (which was not called “Gooseberries”) was nothing like the Kiwifruits of today. I just posted an article from NZ History for simplicity.

I also knew that CCP had not planted anything in the seeds transferred in 1904, since they just celebrated their 100th Anniversary. Just didn’t. remember to put (joke) behind. (One more joke)

BTW; Size isn’t as importance as it has be made up be. (joke)

PS> The way the name Kiwifruit came about WAS news to me.
