China & Russia to attack Hawaii?

There appears almost to be consensus here that the world’s second largest economy is run by a bunch of uneducated morons that doesn’t care about anything but staying in power and care nothing about their people, only world hegemony.(??)

Well, you could be right, by some accounts:

Beer Cap, not the same thing by a longshot. Bug knows his shit, as does Heiwa to a point, But Heiwa confounds me much more often. It almost seems he posts things just to throw a hook to whoever bites, and chuckles in his chair.

Bug just posts stuff from the internet, hows that knowing stuff?

it was inevitable it would end up the largest and with the ccp the most dangerous on the planet.

You are the uneducated one here. The CCP knows full well what they are doing and they know full well what the attitude in the West, much less these US, are these days. The West will be steamrolled and there will be riots in the streets about trans- critical race theory before people realize that China won.
Remember what happened in Anchorage earlier this year? Here is another analysis.

The US gov’t doesn’t care about the ROC. If they did they would have never allowed Mao and the CCP to be victorious in the 40s or recognized the PRC as the “one true” China in the 70s. US foreign policy in the Pacific has been allowed to be bullied by the PRC for decades.

Taiwan is the only one true China with a continuous history of Chinese culture.
Remind us all who China’s friends are on this planet?
What did China Win?
You need to read the constitution of the ccp ( which is different that China’s) to know they ccp is not good for the world.
They are manufacturing illegal drugs and shipping them to a country you live in for sure, jsut one of the many, its all about us.
South China sea, they just said its ours…
Ideology lunatics like al qaeda just going about it in a different manner…

I’m with you about the ROC, but that is a pipedream and everyone knows it.

what I find sad is how the CCP acts is not how the Chinese act.
Typical of many despot regimes in the world, they do what they can to remain in control.
Jack Ma just found that out…
Alibaba will be in gov hands is my prediction in the not to distant future.
Hopefully the population with Tang Ping the CCP one day…

Posting things that the buddy network tells you, how is that knowledge?
Parroting may be a better description.

There I agree. It was before and was destined to become again.
It took a break from Mao’s brand of Communism, though.
Not much Communism left in China today. Only in the name of the ruling party.
Even Socialism is only a slogan for celebratory occasions. (“Socialism with a Chines face” etc.)

Taiwan (Formosa) was originally populated by people of Philippine origin.
Chinese (Hokkien) from across the strait settled along the west coast during the 15th century. Taiwan became a Portuguese colony (Formosa), in the 16th century.
Later the Spanish, Dutch and eventually Japanese took over the colony, but it was also under Chinese rule for much of the time.

After the WWII, Taiwan was returned to China and became a refuge for the beaten Nationalist from 1949 under the name ROC. They pretending to rule all of China from there.
CCP, who had been supporting the allies during the war, was now “the enemies” and kept from taking China’s UN seat until 1971.

Don’t know if the Tang Ping movement is “laying flat” in protest against the CCP. They are protesting about the long working hours and short holidays that is the norm in both state owned and private companies in China today.

Maybe protesting against Jack Ma’s 996 work schedule:

I figure it’ll be a bloodless takeover.

China continues to advance its land/sea/air area denial capabilities: anti-air and anti-ship advancements have made it difficult and costly to advance against China within their sphere. How many lives and ships and planes will we sacrifice?

China has become an indispensable part of world manufacturing: the parts and raw materials China produces are used by everyone. A hiccup in exports due to hostilities would hurt many nations’ economies. Intense pressure to halt conflict before it sends the world into recession would come from every country.

China has asymmetrical tools that are frightening: the latest ransomware attacks by Putin’s proxies are a good example. Imagine the full force of China’s internet army hitting every connected American business, utility and transportation company, food and manufacturing center and instead of demanding Bitcoin to unlock the computers they demanded the withdraw of American forces from a Taiwan conflict. No AC in the summer, no gas for the car, no internet! We‘d capitulate.

Knowing this, all China needs to do is to setup to invade Taiwan. They then issue the ultimatum to rejoin the motherland - or else! The United States will know that actually coming to Taiwan’s defense would not be worth the cost in blood and treasure. Taiwan will know no one will actually come to their defense. Therefore Taiwan will rejoin the motherland in some sort of one country, two system sham like Hong Kong.

Why stop there? A successful action against Taiwan would encourage action against other ‘Chinese lands’ (like Viet Nam and Bhutan). And so forth.

You laid it out pretty well deck, it’d go about like that. I think the real one will be energy, And despite the USA’s recent brief experience as “energy independent” we all know where the oil is!

I think people in the US may be more apt to protest domestic issues these days because the domestic situation has measurably declined. Let’s not pretend everything is going well here economically or socially just because the market had a good year and some of the protest lingo is goofy, you don’t get riots like last summer without some real issues, and the looming spectre of inflation with stagnant wages isn’t helping.

The incompetence of the last God-knows-how-many administrations and Congresses has definitely made it hard to take anything the US does seriously, it all just seems inevitably like more scams and broken promises, even if it’s a policy like supporting Taiwan.

most americans have not traveled and compared to most pro mariners not at all. Further: the education system does little to enhance knowledge of culture or geography. Compounding this is the embedded belief the US is the center of cultural “advancement”! …
Taken together, along with the current mobs of krap making news … well, basically, we’re all doomed !!!
Well, really, I suppose we could mount a war that may end in at least a stalemate, if not victory but as mentioned here, I really could not see this coming about for the US could and probably would start making chips and such, even if it meant making mining and labor laws change etc. before getting too far along in a shooting war … but energy … i still say that would be another matter. sure, one day we’ll have fusion power, batteries that run a phaser for 3 weeks at full power and all that but in the meantime, a electric car isn’t going to suffice!

The world ganged up on South Africa solely due to a law.
The whole world can gang up on china as it has no friends, that will be in the back on their minds…
Good time to cancel their BRI debt, bankrupt and repocess initiative.
Take your assets back without bloodshed and cancel debt.

good point powerabout; a recent author mentioned a lot of China’s advancement was due to stolen tech and mimicry, that their form of govt. does not inspire inspiration as well as other cultures. The free market system made china thanks to their cheap, and sometimes forced/slave labor in the incredibly inexpensive manufacturing methods and foreign flag shipping rates. yes, it could turn as fast as our “rust belt” did, One day center of world manufacturing, the next … rice paddies !!

China could have conquered Taiwan in any year since 1980s. It hasn’t, because of the geopolitical cost. It will be interesting to see if Xi thinks the cost of absorbing Taiwan is worth it. Making enemies is bad for business.

You don’t need to declare war on China to hurt it. You don’t need to declare a trade embargo, or tariffs. If Xi thinks the G7 nations are going to try to strategically pivot their buying of cheaply-made goods–and strategic things like computer chips-- to India, Xi might think absorbing Taiwan not worth the trouble. Especially if the industrialists and employees fleeing Taiwan move their capital and factories to India.

The BBC & other international news organizations have reported about horrific atrocities from China including concentration camps, forced sterilizations, genocide, torture & systematic rapes & the world shrugs it shoulders. China played the WHO like a puppet during the Covid19 outbreak & the investigations of it’s origins has been undermined this whole time & the world looks away. The US/China trade war is over & more than half of the US was ecstatic when we lost. I think it is safe to say China can pretty much do whatever they want to Taiwan or any of its neighbors & nothing will be physically done. They’re too big to fail. It’s their game to lose, they don’t care about nonexistent “bad business”.

The problem with ccp takeover of Taiwan is explaining why its full of chinese cultural artifacts that dont exist in the mainland.
Better for Taiwan to takeover China

That is easy to explain (as you know very well) The artefacts were looted by the Nationalist over years in power.
They manage to bring some of their loot with them when they fled from the mainland in 1949.
