I almost have enough time to apply for my stcw 2nds and also my chief limited. I have been told that I could get my 2nds with just a turning in my 360 days sea time as being an oicew(3rds unlimited). My question is… Will I be required to test for my chief limited? I assumed I would be. But many fellow engineers I know have been receiving both without testing. Does anyone know the CFr that states there is no required testing for the chief limited? I have called the nmc and have had many different responses.
