That was the news over a year ago. How many have done so per date?
How many British and International finance and insurance companies have move the Europe part of their business to EU countries?
Maybe people having to work from home because covid has helped the UK, companies might think there is no point opening a new office somewhere else when people would have to work from home anyway.
It might be hard for the EU to get companies to move staff out of the UK and to an EU country, with people in financial services working from home they can work anywhere on the planet with a good internet connection.
The article from Jan. last year was about EU companies moving people INTO UK:
At the same time there were news stories about companies leaving The City and moving to finance centres in EU countries. (Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam etc.)
My question was; âhow many have done soâ in both directions. (??)
Yes indeed, the lockdown and use of home office have most likely affected the moving in both directions, although the reason for moving was more about having a physical presents (i.e. a registered company and office) in the market to satisfy âpassportingâ rules, which was lost by Brexit.
PS> Nothing is stopping an EU company from having British citizens manning a subsidiary company/office from a home office. (And v.v.)
When you got the news from the banks themselves, they certainly moved some people which would be all to do about licenses and legislation.
The re moaners sensationalized it when it said the whole âblah blah desk moving to the EUâ but in the fine print it was 10 people moving and 200 remaining in many cases.
They just need a footprint in that country.
I read many stories of an office opening but with a very small number of people.
The Bankers want to be in the UK and so do the customers.
Brexit may be Brexit, but when will it be fully implemented?:
