Are IMR Otto Candies vessels unlimited?
Wow I’m all kinds of wrong in this thread.

The only IMR boats plans I have looked at closely are Harvey and they are putting mud tanks on that boat. Just assumed that they all did it.

So i guess if the boat just works in the oil fields then it can be classed as an OSV.
Harvey Gulf had the Harvey Discovery. A few months back, they pulled the crane off and now she is working as an OSV for Shell in the GOM. They do have another IMR vessel they are building. Should be able to download the specs from their website.

So clue me in then since I just started with Hornbeck. Are you saying no OSV will count toward an unlimited license? If so, then I’m confused as to how my captain and a couple of mates with the 1600 and 6000DDE (I guess thats what it is) are working on their unlimited 3rd mate license? I was told with the boat I’m on, I can get unlimited time toward my 2/m upgrade and 1600 master. I had planned on starting my upgrade paperwork when I get home since this hitch will give me the required sea time.

Yes the time on the large OSV’s count. You can go all the way to chief mate on them.
