App still down. Starting to wonder if they really do hate us.
Thank me if you agree john hates us androids
I’m starting to think that they don’t like us! It really does suck not having the app work on my S III. I’m lucky that I have an iPod touch. Is there any fix in the near future?
Android’s the only phone I ever had that I threw in a drawer in disgust, and never used it again… Probably not that John hates Android, but that Android hates John…
A bit disenfranchised here. I try to re-download every now and again to no avail.
Ok, we located the bug and it should be fixed by tomorrow morning… thanks for stby. -John
Well, are we ever going to get a fully working Android app back? I visit gcaptain a lot less these days as the regular site on a smart phone es no bueno
Hawsepiper, do you have a partially functional Adroid app? I’ve tried four different apps, including (repeatedly) the gCaptain app, and I keep getting the server network error. Can’t get on at all.
I used to be a several-times-a-day visitor … now down to every four or five days or even less depending on how much I’m around my computer.

No. I can’t get on at all and gave up trying. The thing I find very strange is gCaptains/Johns lack of transparency on the matter. Is it a feud or financial thing with Google, is it a technical problem? Normally real good communication with the gCap community they are strangely silent on this issue…
This is a reply from John on another thread.
How about we stop making assumptions? We realize that a lot of people are frustrated but the problem isn’t our lack of concern… the problem is that the developer was too good and was bought out by vbulletin. Which “should” be a good thing except vbulletin’s support is terrible and we (gCaptain Admin’s) have no access to the code. We have nothing to do with the apple or google approval process and are as frustrated (probably more) than you. This is a vbulletin problem that’s not site specific… As mentioned the app isn’t homegrown (it’s the official vbulletin app), and we have had very few complaints about the iPhone version. Yes, the android version is currently broken and I am looking into tapatalk but it’s buggy as hell which gives us only two, admittedly poor, choices (1) continue to work with vbulletin to fix the problem (2) switch to a platform where we know we’ll have problems.
