Any sea tme differences between renewing for a n/c or ocean for 500 master

HI thinking about doing my Celestial next week for an Ocean endorsement and concerned that if down the raod I have my Oceans ticket and have done near coastal mostly will I run into problems renewing down the raod and will my Ocean ticket bite me in the butt when all I used was N/C time even though I will travel outside the USA. I do not know if I will do alot of long blue water unless I do it on a large sail boat which is possible . If there are any differences what is the the days and tonnage differences .
I do not have to do it for 5 yrs but would like to get it done while I have the time .But if there a big difference I will save my money and 700 miles of traveling to go do it since its in Seattle.and as we know money does not grow on trees ( unless you have a great printer!). thnaks alot

No. You’re asking about an endorsement to your license, days and tonnage have nothing to do with a celestial endorsement. You can meet the requirement with the course you are planning to take - apply for the endorsement by submitting the certificate. You may need to take a rules test as well. The school will know and should help you out.

Make sure the course also covers the new ‘ocean’ nav general portion of the new CG exam requirement (module 207xx-nav general). There’s more to it than just the celestial (exam/course) portion since NMC amended the exam guide last year.

Renewal is “360 days of service”. Nothing in regulation (currently) that requires you to show specific waters that you served on in order to renew MOST officer endorsements. Tankerman ratings, towing endorsements, and BST (as per current USCG policy) do require other specific additional items in order to renew or maintain those specific endorsements.

Good luck!
