Any help would be great

I would like to hear any comments from anyone out there about how to get my foot in the door as a wiper. I have applied to all the oil companies, Great Lakes Fleets, sat in the Union Halls. contacted Head hunters, and spent hours on the computer and phone applying for jobs. I am ex-Navy and have all my cradentials. Paid to go to the Maritime Academy for the LifeBoatman course. All i am getting are dead ends. My father is a Merchant Marine and works for Noble Drilling. He has wrote refferal after refferal for me and yet still nothing. If anyone has any information on any companies looking for a wiper or were i could even get my start i would greatly appreciat the comment. thank you for your time.

Where do you live? You need Basic safety training and rfpnw, those will help your chances. Timing is key a company not hiring today may need twenty bums tomorrow.

Doesn’t need RFPNW for wiper. RFPEW would be nice if he qualifies though.

Not sure if you are searching on line or in person. In the oilfield, especially down the Bayou, in person is better.

Never stayed there but Chateau on the Bayou is a good place to stay and the lady who runs it usually has an idea who is hiring. She hangs out on the site. Check the Maritime Employment Thread and look down a few pages to see if she posted and contact her.

Let me guess…they won’t even take a phone call to talk to you? It just shows to go what a fine bunch Noble has in their HR department! A worse, more uncaring cabal of lousy EMMEFFERS you’ll have a hard time finding!

That felt good…rather cathartic actually!

This is not the employment thread. A couple of guys went through this for a month or so. Go to the Employment threads and look through them.

By law companies are not allowed to show favoritism to an applicant because they already have a family member employed at the company. It is frustrating not to get a reply and I’ve heard that complaint many times about the company mentioned.

What law is that? Do you have a citation? I do not believe that is true. If it were, most companies in America would be in violation.

NOAA is always a good place to start for that,I did when I first started and loved it,I eventually got my QMED and all the endorsments, eventually went the other way and now a 1600 ,with MOT,kinda wish I would of stayed below decks cause I like wrenching but all is good, but Try NOAA
