Indeed, the story of how he was able to locate that exact car and then the painstaking restoration makes a Detroit iron aficionado like myself in awe to such dedication! Mine is only a facsimile of McGarrett’s second Merc. The one in the show was acquired by his stunt double and besides mine is two years younger and not a true 4door hardtop but rather a pillar hardtop mine although for all intents and purposes mine the same car otherwise. There’s something about her being triple black that makes it so sweet to own. Far too many cars in the early 70’s were such buttugly colors like brown or olive or goldenrod. A big sedan like a Marquis Brougham MUST be black to be taken seriously! Steve McGarrett knew that instinctively!
