That might have more to do with the SIU collecting taxpayer cash grants for “human development” than the chances of a 60 year old starting a career as a seafarer.
The SIU delighted to push completely unsuitable trainees through Piney Point to feed them to NCL and cared less if they even lasted a single trip. Producing a quality product is the last of the SIU’s objectives.
