Does anyone know where to go for information on this hearing? Does MMP really believe they can win this? Wasnt Osprey operating years ago under the same workaround from MMP?
YES, we do believe can âwinâ it, but that doesnât mean AMO/SIU must abide by such a decision.
I do believe that itâs more complicated than is posted on this forum, BUT I donât have access to all the materials MMP HQ has to dispute this. It goes beyond CBA and in to corporate structure/restructuring/absorption. We wouldnât fight if we didnât think it was winnable. We won back the APL GUAM (alongside 3 other unions); we won back Pasha replacements for old Horizon ships (along with MEBA).
Hearing is tomorrow or Thursday. Shouldnât take more than 2 days. Decision may not be out for weeks/months. I donât know if any of itâs publicly available. I canât speak to OSPREY of old, before my time.
Title 20 hearing was in fact held this weekâŚ.. time will tell.
As an MMP member I do hope we win. Not really thrilled with our leadership but it is what it is. Now do CMA CGM stops reflagging those 20 they promised if MMP wins it? Will AMO/SIU just give all those ships? Lots of questions to be had still.
Probably
IMO, MMP âwinningâ it may not change their minds. I do believe that If they wanted to pay less overall, they wouldnât have signed with MEBA; it would be all AMO officers. That would likely be less pay across the board by comparison. I AM NOT STARTING SOME⌠AMO pays shit dialogue. I am saying that as a comparison the Maersk Pittsburgh and Maersk Chicago, both AMO K-class with MSP billet, and the Maersk Saratoga feeder ship on MSP billet pay less than MLL LDO/LEO billets with MMP/MEBA And that gap used to be huge until early 2010s. Rodolph Saade has bigger problems with lost trillion dollar euro bills between his private jet lounge seats than whatâs going on between a few piss ant unions in the USA over a few measly soon to be USA flag ships amongst his massive FOC fleet.
Itâs an Osprey AMO top to bottom contract. They âsignedâ with AMO. Not AMO and MEBA. The agreement for MEBA engineering officers crewing 2/3 is an agreement between AMO and MEBA.
Tks for that clarification. I didnât realize there was no actual MEBA CBA with OSPREY based on what you are saying
Exactly. Osprey is an AMO top to bottom contract. Anything with MEBA engineers on the ships has to go through AMO. If it reverts to a MEBA engine CBA 1/3 would still AMO engine but through MEBA.
But as pointed out above, whoâs to say Osprey/ APL will continue reflagging those ships if MMP wins. Itâs a delicate situation. Hopefully MMP doesnât derail the delicate momentum for the industry. But they got to do what they got to do- I havenât heard of any potential new players reaching out to MMP.
