I was asked if my AB had an international rating?I know I can work on Foreign flagged vessels in US waters but what about overseas? on forgien flagged ships?AB unlimited,any waters ,any tonnage

The NMC is now endorsing MMC with Able Seafarer Deck as well.

It’s not RFPNW, it’s “Able Seafarer-Deck.” It’s in STCW 2010 which went into effect on January 1, 2012. See http://www.uscg.mil/nmc/policy_letters/pdfs/CVC%20Policy%20Letter%20No.%2012-07%20Training%20Endorsements.pdf

Currently, we will issue the AS-D endorsement to anyone holding RFPNW and certain Able Seaman endorsements. Details are in the opolicy letter linked to above.

I read that policy letter to say that those endorsements are coming soon. I didn’t see anywhere where it said you could get one now, just that the USCG is granting interim course approval in anticipation of those endorsements being added to the CFR.

I work with a guy who had RFPNW and AB unlimited. Just renewed his MMC and it has Able Seafarer-Deck.
