I’m working on towards my 1600 ton mate N/C and I’m getting conflicting answers from NMC. One lady told me medical care provider wasn’t needed but bridge resource management was and the lady today told me BRM wasn’t needed but Medical care provider was. If any one has sat for this recently could you please tell me what classes are needed. By the way YES I have checked the checklist on the NMC website and it’s out of date. Thanks for any help.
You need BRM, but as of 1.5 years ago or so, they stopped requiring Med Provider. Good luck!
The USCG stopped requiring many of the classes because the CFR’s did not authorize them to require the classes. The rules are in the process of changing. Write to your Evaluator at the NMC and ask him if any classes are required. Its his opinion that counts. If he has to put it in writing he’ll be more careful to get it right.
