The salvage vessel D/S Draugen hit a mine and sunk near Bergen on 15. July, 1940:


Now the wreck has been located :

Talk about “lines”. That was a classically beautiful vessel…

Interesting that they have a sail out up forward. It’s customary to raise a sail on the aftermost mast like a spanker to steady the yaw at anchor.

This is the Salvage vessel D/S Draugen that I remember Between jobs she was alongside at Fladmark’s base in Åleund, as here:



I used to visit as a newspaper seller in the 1950s.
